WALKING HOLIDAYS

Of course, lazy days are one of the real pleasures of going on holiday. But relaxing does not have to mean doing nothing, quite the contrary. It's the ideal time for practising or taking up a sport: fitness walking or Nordic walking. This is the year when you come back super fit from your holidays!

Of course, lazy days are one of the real pleasures of going on holiday. But relaxing does not have to mean doing nothing, quite the contrary. It's the ideal time for practising or taking up a sport: fitness walking or Nordic walking. This is the year when you come back super fit from your holidays!

NORDIC WALKING AND FITNESS WALKING CAN BE PRACTISED WHEREVER YOU LIKE, WHENEVER YOU LIKE!

If any sport can be described as being free from any barriers, it's walking! Whether you choose Nordic walking or fitness walking, the equipment is compact and you are not restricted to a specific time or place. No reservation needed, no mandatory course, no instructor required, no limit in terms of time or specific weather conditions. You are totally free to choose your walk. Don't like going it alone? Try group walking. Fitness walks or Nordic walks are organised in most holiday destinations. Find out more from tourist information offices.

DISCOVER THE PLEASURE OF WALKING IN THE SUNSHINE

Fitness walking and Nordic walking in high summer are an absolute delight! Getting out in the sunshine is a perfect reason for enjoying fitness walking. Avoid the times when exposure is greatest (between midday and 4 p.m.), wear a cap and sunglasses and take a water bottle or water bladder and off you go! You should also apply suitable sun block.

This is the perfect combination of outdoors activities, getting a bit of sun and discovering a new place or area at walking pace.

KEEP FIT WHILE WALKING

On holiday, we tend to eat out with family and friends, try some local specialities and perhaps grab a cheeky ice cream from time to time. If you're not careful, you might come back from your holidays with a few extra kilos.

By regularly practising Nordic walking or fitness walking, you can control your weight simply and without restricting yourself. You will be able to enjoy those little indulgences that make your holidays so enjoyable, without feeling guilty and while staying in shape!

WHAT ABOUT CITY BREAKS?

There are still many opportunities to go out walking. During the holidays, there are fewer people in city parks, which makes them all the nicer for walkers. And the icing on the cake is that the parks in most major cities close late in the evening: La Tête d’Or in Lyon at 10:45 p.m., Parc Borély in Marseille at 8:45 p.m. and Les Buttes Chaumont in Paris at 9 p.m. You can also try out a stretch of a longer trail if it passes through your local area. A chance to get away from it all without actually taking a holiday!
