Fitness walking or Nordic walking are no longer individual sports as they can also be practised as part of a group. However, you are having a hard time finding someone with whom you can share your hobby? Here are some suggestions for making some progress as you can be sure that you are not alone in wanting to find a partner!

1 – START BY LOOKING AT YOUR ENTOURAGE

Maybe a member of your family, a companion, a friend or a colleague would like to practice some sport. He will surely be happy to join you during your next power walking or Nordic walking outing.

If you are married, why not ask your husband or wife to join you. What's more, fitness walking and Nordic walking are acknowledged for their role in loosening up the body and reducing the tensions that every couple will encounter at one time or another in their relationship!

2 –  JOIN A WALKING CLUB OR ASSOCIATION OF WALKERS

There is bound to be a walking club or association for fitness walking and Nordic walking enthusiasts near to where you live.

The benefit of signing up to a club or association is that you will meet lots of other enthusiasts, like you. This way, you will maximise your chances of finding someone who is compatible in terms of their sporting ability and on a personal level.

Furthermore, clubs as well as associations frequently offer beginner outings so that you can find out if the atmosphere of the group suits you!

3 – CHECK OUT THE INTERNET TO FIND A FORUM OR SPECIALISED WEBSITE

The major advantage of using this method is that once you have found the forum or website of the other walkers in your region, you don't have to make a commitment. Even if deciding to walk as part of a group means that you have to stick with the members of the group, this is less restrictive than joining a club or association.

However, you need to be careful because you will not meet the person doing the initial exchanges. It is really worth meeting up, because getting on well with one's team members is very important when walking as a group.

4 – STOP OFF AT YOUR DECATHLON STORE!

Some Decathlon stores, in which you will find fitness walking shoes and Newfeel Nordic walking poles, also offer free walking sessions. At the reception, you may be in for a good surprise!

This is the case with Sabine, of the Walking department at the Fouquières-Lès-Béthune store (France), who organises a 2-hour walking session every Saturday morning:

"When I started walking, I quickly formed a group with the people I met every morning in the store. There are now about 15 of us and everyone is a regular participant. The members were quick to bring along a friend, a husband, etc. I even have a doctor who sends his patients to walk with us!"

5 – JOIN OUR FACEBOOK PAGE!

Many walkers meet on our Facebook page, so feel free to join us. It may be an opportunity to find a walking companion in your region, who is ready to join you during your outings.
